Horse
Jiggety-jig, jiggety-jig,
Pete's horse is little,
And Dan's horse is big.
Jiggety-jig, jiggety-jig.
My Horse
How I love my little horse!
I will brush him very well, of course,
I will comb his tail and mane,
And go riding out again.
Horsey horsey don't you stop
Just let your feet go clippetty clop
The tail goes swish and the wheels go round
Giddy up, we're homeward bound
J. Prelutsky
I’m usually a speedy horse.
Today I’ very slow.
I’m hardly making headway
As along the road I go.
I’m slower than a tortoise
Or a sloth atop a tree.
My rider has decided
That he ought to carry me.
Kangaroo
Today, when I was at the Zoo,
I watched the mother kangaroo.
Inside her skin she has a pocket.
She puts her baby there to rock it.
Kangaroo
A kangaroo at London Zoo
would bound around the grounds
until she'd drop and have to stop
when she ran out of bounds.
The tiger-cub
I’m a baby tiger,
My coat is smooth and nice,
It is of yellow color
With pretty narrow stripes.
The Tiger
The Tiger, on the other hand, is kittenish and mild,
He makes a pretty playfellow for any little child;
And mothers of large families (who claim to common sense)
Will find a Tiger well relays the trouble and expense.
Poetry and prose for children and kids.
